As I stated in the Portrait Gallery, a Montage Portrait is a picture that tells a life story. It groups several events from the persons life onto one canvas. The events can include images of professional achievements, atheletic achievements, family traditions, childhood experiences, etc. You can be really creative in a montage portrait. But usually one of the images should be a close up portrait of the subjects face. This acts as a anchor around which the story is told. Here are some of the questions you may need answered before you commission a Montage Portrait:
Where do I get the photos you will paint from? The photos can be collected from family members, from year books, from the subject person, from news paper and magazines, from professional journals. One time I had to find a photo of an important event and paint the subject person's face onto the body. It worked perfectly. I can scan the photos and return them to you immediately if necessary. Photo size is not important. I can enlarge them.
How big will the painting be? The base size will be 20x24" with a $50.00 increase for each standard size larger. A 20x24" canvas can hold four images nicely. But many people end up with a size or two larger. How much does a montage portrait cost? Each image on the portrait cost $300. So a 20x24" montage portrait with four images would be $1200.00. While a 22x28" would be $1250.00.
